Features

Everything You Need to Clean Up Your Edit

Purpose-built for professional editors who need precision, speed, and zero context-switching.

RMS Silence Detection

Threshold-based audio analysis that works with any content — speech, music, ambient, field recordings. Not limited to transcription.

Blazing Fast

Analyze 10 minutes of footage in ~2 seconds. A full 1-hour recording in under 30 seconds. Powered by Apple Accelerate (vDSP).

Freeze Frame Detection

Automatically flag frozen frames from VFR artifacts, recording failures, or technical glitches. No competitor offers this.

Fine-Grained Control

Adjust threshold (dB), minimum duration, and padding. See detection results update live as you tweak parameters — before committing.

Multiple Output Modes

Silence removed, silence as gaps, or blade-at-silence with keyword-tagged and color-coded clips. Choose what fits your workflow.

100% Local & Private

All processing happens on your Mac. No cloud uploads, no internet required, no account needed. Your footage never leaves your machine.

What Editors Say

Built for Real Workflows

I used to spend 20 minutes per episode hunting for dead air. SilenceScout does it in seconds — right inside FCP.

YouTube Creator

The freeze detection alone is worth the price. I caught VFR dropouts I would've missed in the final export.

Post-Production Supervisor

Broadcast

With Recut I had to export, process externally, then re-import the XML. SilenceScout stays right in my timeline as a native plugin — way fewer steps. Easy switch.

One-time payment, no AI transcription nonsense, works on music and ambient audio. Exactly what I needed.

DaVinci Resolve

Processed a 3-hour podcast recording in under 90 seconds. The accuracy on music segments blew me away.

I switched my entire post workflow from Recut. The native NLE integration alone saves me hours per week — and one license covers both editors I use.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does SilenceScout use AI transcription?
No. It uses RMS threshold-based audio analysis, which means it works with any audio content — speech, music, ambient sound, field recordings. It's not limited to spoken language.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 13 (Ventura) or later for DaVinci Resolve, macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later for Final Cut Pro. Requires FCP 10.7+ or DaVinci Resolve Studio 20+. Works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The trial lets you process up to 3 events with clips up to 5 minutes each — in both FCP and Resolve. No time expiration, no account required. Download it from FxFactory.
Do I need separate licenses for FCP and Resolve?
No. One license covers both Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Buy once, use in both NLEs. The regular price is $129 — grab it at the $99 launch price while it lasts.
How is this different from Recut?
Recut ($129) is a standalone app — you export your media, process it externally, then re-import the XML cut list (multiple steps). SilenceScout is a native plugin that stays inside your NLE timeline, works in both FCP and Resolve as an integrated panel, and adds freeze-frame detection that Recut doesn’t offer.
Does it work with variable frame rate (VFR) footage?
Yes. SilenceScout uses VFR-safe segmented audio reading that prevents PTS drift — proven on OBS, Shadowplay, and screen capture recordings.
Is my footage uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing is 100% local on your Mac — in both the FCP and Resolve versions. No cloud, no internet connection required. Your footage never leaves your machine.
